Discussion of the Russian Terms 'Oshibka,' 'Popravka,' 'Tochnost,' and 'Pogreshnost,'

Abstract

A discussion of Russian terms for describing 'accuracy,' 'error,' 'correction,' and the confusion which is created by using them in the wrong contexts. According to GOST 16263-73, the term for error, 'oshibka,' should now be replaced by the word 'pogreshnost.' The author believes that GOST 16263-73 should be studied carefully before being used as a standard.
