Allergic Alteration of Neutrophils during Interaction with Bacterial Allergens and Viral Antigens in the Clinic of Neuroinfectious Diseases,

Abstract

The author applied the reaction of allergic alteration of neutrophils with bacterial allergens of hemolytic Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus viridans, E. coli. Proteus, and with enteroviral antigens of ECHO-7, Coxsackie B-3 in 147 patients suffering from neuroinfectious diseases of various etiology. Allergic predisposition in the anamnesis was revealed in 63 patients; 38 of these patients were suffering from chronic tonsillitis. An increased allergic alteration of neutrophils to the allergen of a hemolytic Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, and E. coli was revealed in this group; a grave course of the neuroinfectious disease was noted. Allergic alteration of neutrophils was not detected in the reaction with enteroviral antigens. The intensity of allergic alteration of neutrophils was somewhat decreased during convalescence, and only in the patients with neurorheumatism did it remain elevated with allergen of hemolytic Streptococcus.
