Collective Physical Properties of Finite Condensed Matter.

Abstract

This project concerned properties of condensed matter in which one or more dimensions were reduced. Thin films and surfaces form what is called 'two-dimensional' systems; metal whiskers and organic crystal in which the molecules are strongly coupled along only one direction form 'one-dimensional' systems; finally, in this language, small particles and atomic aggregates form 'zero-dimensional' systems.
