Map Type Catalog for the Japan Window,

Abstract

A standardized procedure has been developed to determine the synoptic map types which have occurred over a specified area (window). The map type catalog is a summarization of information relating to these map types for a particular window. (There is a catalog for each of the 14 United States windows, 3 European windows, and 3 Asian windows.) The catalog includes characteristics of the map types and listings of each map in the data base (25 years of surface pressure maps) along with its most similar map type. (Author)
