Development of a Time Dependent Nozzle.

Abstract

A nozzle development program was undertaken at the Aerospace Research Laboratories to produce a time dependent flow at the nozzle exit. The oscillatory character of the flow was achieved without the use of moving parts by incorporating a fluidic feedback loop into the nozzle design. The nozzle thrust efficiencies approached 90 percent and the half width spreading rates attained exceeded the slot nozzle by a factor of more than three. (Author)
