Radiative Transfer of Multi-Dimensional Flow Geometries.

Abstract

Several aspects relating to the interaction between thermal radiative heat transfer and buoyantly driven convective motions were investigated. Particular phases of the investigation were concerned with attempts at improved radiative modeling, radiative cooling of isolated buoyant thermals, boundary layers formed on horizontal surfaces by buoyancy-induced motion, convection between parallel hosizontal surfaces bounding a radiating fluid, and the connection between theoretical and observed temperatures and velocities in free convection. All investigations but the first and last resulted in publications. (Modified author abstract)
