A Parallel Study of the Character of Microflora of Lacunae Tonsillar, Titers of Streptococcal Antibodies and the Results of Intradermal Tests with Bacterial Allergens in Patients with Chronic Tonsillitis,
Abstract
The author conducted microbiological investigation of the contents of tonsillar laculae in 66 patients with simple and toxico-allergic form of chronic tonsillitis without concomitant diseases and in 10 healthy persons (control group). In pure culture commonly Enterococcus was isolated, rarely nonhemolytic Streptococcus and Diplostreptococcus. Attention is drawn to the greater seeding of hemolytic Staphylococcus aureus, coagulating the blood plasma together with nonhemolytic Streptococcus and Enterococcus in 18 patients (27.2%). Upon the comparison of the microflora of tonsillar lacunae in patients with chronic tonsillitis and healthy persons one could arrive at the conclusion that the flora of patients with chronic tonsillitis and healthy persons does not differ neither by the character, nor by the pathogenicity of isolated strains of microbes. The results of intradermal tests with bacterial allergens and nature of microflora of tonsillar lacunae in 37 patients out of 41 indicated no parallelism casting doubt in the ability of the microflora of tonsillar lacinae to cause allergization of the organism.
