Mechanism of the Catalytic Oxidation of Olefins (Mekhanizm i Kinetika Geterogennykh Reaktsii),

Abstract

The use of diverse methods as kinetic, adsorptive, electrical and isotopic enabled the author to propose a stepwise diagram of the oxidation of olefin hydrocarbons on different oxidizing catalysts. Propylene on the surface can form pi-complexes, or after dissociation, pi-allyl complexes. Both forms are converted into different oxygen-hydrocarbon complexes with interaction with oxygen: Studies of the chemisorption of the reaction components under the conditions of pre-catalysis (the adsorption temperature is lower than the temperature of the start of the reaction) and research on the behavior of the different oxygen-containing products on the catalyst surface area using kinetic and isotopic methods were undertaken for proof of the existence of such forms.
