Susceptibility Measurement System Study SMS Model.
Abstract
The report concerns the technical and economic aspects of proposed ECM susceptibility measurement system (SMS) equipment for multifunction array radar systems. It presents the study results and equipment design details of a radar target simulator that delays and reproduces a radar signal on a pulse-by-pulse basis. Unlike the usual simulator design, this equipment is to be independent and external to the victim radar. Signals will be introduced from the far field. Laboratory investigations indicate the equipment will create realistic target returns with predetermined ballistic coefficients, flight times, and trajectories. Delay times are variable from one input signal width to infinity. Signal reproduction distortion for stationary or moving targets is predictable and constant.
