Abstract

The purpose of the USCGC Northwind's work was to measure the characteristics of the deep water in the western end of the Southeast Pacific Basin (71 degrees S to 75 degrees S and 140 degrees W to 170 degrees W) in order to determine whether bottom water formed in the Ross Sea flows into the Basin.
