Cloud Cover vs. Signal Strength Study.

Abstract

Received signal-level data collected on two, 5 GHz European Wide-Band Communication System tropospheric scatter links were compared with satellite viewed cloud cover to determine the correlation that may exist between cloud cover and radio link performance. The results (based on give types of cloud cover) show that tends in signal level are implied by the type of cloud cover over the links although the magnitudes of occasional very high or very low signal levels are underestimated.
