Effects of Physical and Geometrical Nonlinearities on the Dynamic Behavior of Laminated Composites.

Abstract

The geometrical nonlinearity considered in this report results from the large deflection of laminated plates. The equations of motion for the laminated plates are derived following the von Karman's large deflection for plates. The dynamical conditions on the shock and acceleration waves are consistently developed from the three-dimensional conditions. The corresponding equations of motion as well as the dynamical conditions for incremental waves superposed on deformed laminates are also presented. Effects of the large amplitude and the initial deformation on harmonic waves as well as wave front propagations are studied. (Author, modified-PL)
