Firefighting Foam Proportioning System Technology.
Abstract
The project objective was to determine the capabilities and limitations of around-the-pump and pressure side firefighting foam agent proportioning systems. The effort was to consider the accuracy of agent concentration which could be obtained with the two systems for various combinations of steady and interrupted flow conditions and establish the practical proportioning accuracy for the two systems. Proportioning system acquisition and maintenance costs, and system operational and performance characteristics, including effects of system reaction times to attain steady flow conditions, were to be determined for each system.
