Final Report 1 Nov 73-31 Oct 74,

Abstract

Research results are summarized for 11/73 to 10/74. Systematic rules have been developed for deducing the effective cross-sections of bath molecules for collisional vibrational energy transfer from highly excited butyl radicals and other species. Work in methylene radical systems has led to the demonstration of failure of intramolecular energy randomization on a time scale of 10 to the -12th power. The ring opening of excited cyclic alkyl radicals has been studied and the energy factors that govern the behavior of such systems have been delineated.
