A New Measure of Biotic Similarity Between Samples and Its Applications with a Cluster Analysis Program.

Abstract

A new measure of biotic similarity is proposed and its use in a matrix analysis program outlined. It is shown by comparisons and examples that this index is more versatile than all previous indices and should be the measure of choice when examining two or more samples in which species composition is an important consideration.
