Castable Colored Smoke Mixture Studies.

Abstract

The object of this work was to study the feasibility of producing pour castable colored smoke formulations by modifying existing extrudable mixtures. It was desired that the resulting castable mixtures cure within 24 hours at room temperature or within a few hours at elevated temperatures and possess good stability and functioning characteristics after crosslinking and storage. The addition of various plasticizers to the polymer system along with changing the solids to liquids ratio was investigated. A castable mixture with functioning stability after elevated-temperature storage was not successfully developed during this study.
