Helicopter-Mounted Fire Extinguishing Equipment,

Abstract

The investigation described in the patent consists of helicopter-mounted tanks, pumps, foam mixer, piping, reels, hose, nozzles and foaming attachment, the latter two of which are lowered by the reels for fire fighting while the helicopter hovers at a safe altitude. Water and foaming agent are mixed in the helicopter and pumped through the hose and nozzle to the nozzle attachment. Foam is formed, using the rotor downwash, caught by the attachment deflectors and a screen over the attachment opening.
