Theoretical Possibility of Converting the Kinetic Energy of Ionized Gas Flow into Electricity,

Abstract

The theoretical possibility of converting the kinetic energy of ionized gas flow into electricity is qualitatively discussed. A model generator, designed to test theoretical predictions is described. Its performance, in two distinct types of experimental situations (i.e. in plasma flow from two different sources) is given by its volt-ampere characteristics at different temperatures. It is established that the magnitude of the specific power obtainable may exceed 4 W/square cm.
