Unit for Studying the Strength and Deformability of High-Strength Brittle Materials in Biaxial Compression,

Abstract

A unit for studying the strength and deformability of brittle materials such as glass, ceramics and pyroceram in laboratory conditions is presented. The sample is placed into the unit and biaxial forces are applied to it. Various instruments, cinecameras, potentiometers, strain gauges, etc. record the disintegration process and an oscillograph and a filter register the moment prior to disintegration.
