Experimental Study of the Transition of Solid Aerosol Particles into Droplet Size,

Abstract

Experimental results are presented showing that the transition of solid aerosol particles into droplet size occurs at a lower humidity than follows from theory. The dependence of supersaturation on particle radius is shown for pure water and for several ammonium sulfate solutions. NaCl and quartz were used as the particles on which droplets grew, along with substances with different wetting angles: talc and road dust.
