Marine Geodesy (Based on Material from the XV General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics),

Abstract

Future development of marine geodesy which can be carried out due to advanced techniques now being used is discussed. Geodetic methods can be used for determining movement of the earth's crust and in the forecasting of earthquakes. By using sonobuoys and vessels, geodesy can be carried out on the sea bottom in almost the same way as on land.
