TACAN/DME Digital Data Broadcast Design Plan. Volume III--Airborne Equipment.

Abstract

The approach to the development and design of the airborne portion of the Digital Data Broadcast System (DDBS) is detailed in this volume. In general the airborne equipment can be broken into two broad categories. The first encompasses the equipment suitable for use by the general aviation user. It is characterized by being small, light, operating from DC power sources, and in general having an output suitable for an analog computer. The second category encompasses the range of equipment suitable for use by the Airline and Air Transport users. This equipment is characterized by numerous displays indicating many facets of its operation, AC input power, and serial digital input/output interfaces conforming to ARINC standards.
