A Temperate-Zone Cyclonic-Storm Model.

Abstract

A synthetic, nominal description (or model) of the cloudiness associated with the frontal system of a cyclonic-storm or low-pressure center in the temperate zone is presented. The model is depicted in plan view and in vertical cross sections. The plan view indicates the horizontal extent of high, middle, and low cloudiness. Three cross sections show: (1) The vertical and horizontal extent of cloudiness; indicating the type of cloud and its fractional coverage; (2) the physical state--proportion of ice and liquid--of the cloud particles; and (3) the total bulk density of condensed water.
