Development of a Zero-G Gauging System. Volume I.

Abstract

A configuration of the nucleonic gauging system denoted the 'Flight Test Article,' which is suitable to demonstrate gauging performance in a zero-g environment as provided by the Zero-G KC-135 aircraft flying a parabolic trajectory, was designed, fabricated, and delivered to NASA. The gauging system is projected to yield a total system accuracy of 0.25 percent of total tank capacity with a 1-second response time. The system is completely compatible with the requirements of the KC-135 aircraft and will not present any undue hazard to ground or flight personnel.
