Combat Theater Ground Communications (CTGC). Switching Subsystem Analyses. Part A. Sections 1 through 3.

Abstract

The objective of the study program, which was oriented towards specific subsystems, components, and functions of the Combat Theater Ground Communications (CTGC) system, was to provide data based on cost and effectiveness trade-off analyses that the Air Force can use in generating an optimum concept for the CTGC system. The data generated includes cost, effectiveness, and technical risk associated with baseline and alternate designs for the individual subsystems. The investigations were concerned primarily with switching subsystems, data processors, network management, special interfaces, and record terminals. The significant results of the investigations are presented from the standpoints of comparing comparable elements and techniques, identifying significant designs and cost factors, recommendations concerning specific design approaches, and identifying areas warranting further investigation. Cost data and cost estimation methodology are also described in detail.
