The Role of Allergy in the Pathogenesis of Nasal Polyposis (Clinical, Biochemical and Immunological Investigations),
Abstract
Moderately pronounced shifts were noted in the blood serum proteinogram in nasal polyposis patients - an increase in the content of gamma-globulins and a decrease in the content of beta-globulins. Hyperglobulinemia was ascertained in polypous fluid as a result of a considerable increase in gamma- and a decrease in beta-globulins. Accumulation takes place in nasal polyps, and possibly also the formation of gamma-globulins. The histamine metabolism was disrupted in nasal polyposis patients, which is expressed in variations in the indices of histamine metabolism - in an increase in the histamine content, a reduction in histaminase, histamine inhibitors, histaminopexic index, and also in the appearance in a number of patients of stimulators both in the blood and in the polypous fluid.
