Near Field Small Earthquake -- Computer Simulation

Abstract

A three dimensional finite difference code is being developed which will perform a deterministic simulation of a stick slip earthquake. The primary goal of this research effort is to obtain an earthquake's equivalent elastic source in a form which is suitable for propagation to teleseismic distances. Normalization of the earthquake model to the near field data obtained at Bear Valley is expected to furnish the required validation of the model.
