Subminiature Broadband Filters.

Abstract

Unidirectional acoustic surface-wave filters developed in this program demonstrated only 2-dB insertion loss. This part of the program covered fabrication of air-insulated crossovers with low parasitic capacitance and resistance and development of multiphase and matching networks required by the three-phase unidirectional transducer. A 'tapered weighted' unidirectional filter was also demonstrated. A new weighting technique, the capacitively weighted transducer, was invented. This technique can be used to weight both conventional and unidirectional filters. In addition, this program included initial investigation of the multichannel 'selectable' bandpass filter and the 'series-weighted' filter.
