Impact of Projectiles on Thin Armor Plates,

Abstract

The nonlinear partial differential equations describing the axisymmetric radial and transverse states of strain, stress and displacement in an impacted membrane-plate were reduced to ordinary differential equations by means of a similarity transformation. It was shown that for elastic and plastic finite constitutive equations this reduction leads to two coupled nonlinear nonlinear equations of the second order.
