Attempted Synthesis of 1,2,7,8-Pyrenetetramine

Abstract

An attempt was made to prepare 1,2,7,8-pyrenetetramine to be used as a monomer in the development of a high temperature polyquinoxaline polymer. Unfortunately, the monomer was too unstable for pruification. The characterization of the monomer was accomplished by the preparation of a derivative, 1,2,7,8-pyrenetetracetamide, by two alternate routes.
