Structures of Large Panel Roofs,

Abstract

The author discusses the experiences gained in design, construction and operation of over 70 types of large-panel ferroconcrete roofs, built in climatic areas similar to the northwestern region of the Soviet Union. The book clarifies special features, techniques of production and assembly, and testing methods. The evaluation of individual designs analyzes typical shortcomings and recommends the most feasible designs. Included are data concerning insulating properties, moisture conditions of fabricating materials being used in persistently-moist climatic areas and the relationship of moist condition to construction and operation. Recommendations are made for a system of ventilation and a review of technical and economic data involved in the set-up and operation of these roof types is provided. Finally the author presents his observation on the most efficient designs of large-panel roofs for persistently-humid climatic conditions.
