Pirate Settlements, Housing Construction by Incremental Development and Low Income Housing Policies in Bogota, Colombia,

Abstract

The paper documents the relative size of the housing stock and the characteristics of households in illegal settlements, their living arrangements and their incomes. Also, it assesses the impact of housing construction by incremental development in illegal settlements on: (1) the families and (2) the physical growth and economic development of metropolitan Bogota.
