Tensile and Torsional Characteristics of Electromechanical Cables.

Abstract

The tensile and torsional properties of five electromechanical cables and one wire rope commonly used in oceanographic work were tested statically in a tensile testing machine. Testing procedures and apparatus, developed previously at NRL, are briefly described. Tension, torque and elongation were recorded simultaneously during each test.
