The Direct Method in Sequential Analysis--A Review.

Abstract

The following topics in the direct method are reviewed: theory with extensions; past results; future prospects; sequential estimation after a sequential test; new general applications in maintainability, life testing, drug and medical trials; numerical methods; and the impact of the direct method on statistics, probability, stochastic process and queueing theory. All relevant papers are reviewed. The direct method is the catalyst which makes exact results possible in sequential analysis.
