Low-Background Spectral D* Apparatus.
Abstract
The capabilities of the apparatus developed are specified in three groupings--environmental, optical and electrical, and mechanical. Fabrication of the vacuum jacket, cryogen reservoirs, optical chambers, and baffling components for a liquid cryogen cooled dewar is described. A set of mechanical drawings of the complete cryostat is included. Also included is a method for calculating the diffraction pattern of a circular aperture irradiated by an extended incoherent source.
