Drug Addicted Military Personnel: Rehabilitation-A Professional and Personal Problem.

Abstract

The twin problems of drug abuse and addiction during the period of the Viet Nam conflict have forced a re-evaluation by the Armed Forces of policies dealing with prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of servicemen and women involved with drugs. Special emphasis is recommended on techniques which deal adequately with both the medical implications and with the sociological and psychological aspects of addiction and abuse. Methadone maintenance is discussed.
