Continuing Balance System (CBS) for Computing the Worldwide Asset Position for Major Items.

Abstract

A new system for computing the quarterly worldwide asset position (WWAP) for a special group of major items of Army equipment was developed. This system, referred to as the Continuing Balance System, primarily utilizes the individual transactions generated at key supply locations worldwide to form the basis for determining the manner and degree to which inventory levels for key Army subdivisions have increased or decreased over a three month period of time. These increases or decreases are then posted to the previous quarter inventory levels to determine the current inventories. This document describes the study objective, the assumptions and approach taken during the course of the study, and the system that has been developed under the guidance provided by the Army Study Advisory Group (SAG).
