Abstract
A symposium on coronary artery disease, its complications, and medical management is presented in twelve articles. Five articles are denoted to ichemic heart disease, including the use of anticoagulants, digitalis, pathophysiology of cardiogenic shock, the mechanics of oxygen transport, and the nonatherosclerotic forms of the disease. Three articles present reviews of technological advances in three areas of importance to cardiologists: pacemakers, echo cardiography, and his bundle electrography. Four papers on cardiovascular sound, products of basic science seminars, conclude the symposium.
