Electron Beam Welding for Weapon System Components.

Abstract

The utility of the electron beam welding process for the fabrication of weapon components was evaluated. The program included the procurement of an electron beam welder, the training of laboratory and production personnel for its use, and the documentation of welding parameters for the manufacture of selected components. Electron beam welding of the slide track to the receiver shell of the M219 Machine Gun Receiver Assembly was accomplished.
