Abstract

The following articles are discussed: 'The Key to Life' which discusses experiments in collecting water in the desert for irrigation; 'The Sea of Hope' is the story of Nadezhda Shevchenko, a young hydrogeologist and her discovery of a source of underground water in Western Turkmenia; 'Energy is Free' is an article about experiments in solar energy being done in the desert in Turkmenia; 'Miracle Canal' tells about the construction and maintenance problems of the Kara Kum Canal.
