Testing Procedures for Open Circuit Air Diving H ELMETS AND Semi-Closed Circuit Mixed Gas Diving Helmets

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to outline the general procedures and equipment to be used by Experimental Diving Unit personnel in the evaluation of open circuit air and semi-closed circuit mixed gas diving helmets. The procedures outlined are concerned with evaluation of the functional performance of the diving apparatus, helmet and supporting equipment, being tested. Although written for helmets, the study can be applied with only minor modifications to mask type breathing systems as well.
