Optical Rangefinders and Altimeters of the Geometrical Type,

Abstract

The optical elements of rangefinders and their classification into groups with the base at the target station and with the base at the instrument are presented. Linear optical converters using aberration-free plane mirrors are discussed. Nonlinear optical converters using telescopic lenses are analysed. Semiautomatic and automatic rangefinders with the base at the instrument conclude the text.
