Abstract
During the period of the contract the following reports have been prepared and submitted for publication. They are: The convergence of the method of conjugate gradients at isolated extreme points of the spectrum; Gerschgorin theory for the generalized eigenvalue problem Ax = lambda; A stable variant of the Secant method for solving nonlinear equations; The numerical treatment of large eigenvalue problems.
