Abstract

The ramifications of the present status quo and the future of Taiwan as it affects the major powers of the Western Pacific is examined. A free Taiwan versus a Chinese Taiwan is examined in relation to Japanese, Russian, Chinese, and US national interests and the possible reactions of these countries to Taiwan's final disposition.
