Production Engineering Measure for an Integrated Circuit Power Amplifier 600-1000 MHz for Tactical Radio Equipment.

Abstract

The project is intended to provide for production engineering to manufacture an amplifier with the following characteristics: 30 watts output power; input impedance, 50 ohms; output impedance, 50 ohms; frequency band, 600-1000 MHz. The amplifier will use the TRW MICroAMP broadband transistor which will be optimized as part of this project. Two of these devices will then be combined using 90 degree interdigitated couplers to produce a minimum of 30 watts of power. This amplifier will be adaptable for use as a building block for the fabrication of higher power systems. Batch processing techniques continued to be improved and fabrication processes of the contract amplifier housings were re-evaluated in the area of proper plating to assure good solderability, hermeticity, and appearance.
