Prediction Techniques for Refraction of Underwater Explosion Shock Waves; Programs for Computing Refraction Effects and Peak Translational Velocity.

Abstract

This report describes and lists three computer programs used for studying the refraction of underwater explosion shock waves and the effects of the resultant pressure pulses on submarines submerged in the vicinity of a convergence zone caustic. CONGRATS is a continuous gradient ray tracing program that has been modified for this specific purpose. RAYTRV is a ray sorting program used with CONGRATS. TRANSV constructs pressure pulses for the convergence zone region and determines their effect on submerged targets.
