Ground Anchor Test and Evaluation Program Plan Project CEFAR YONDER.
Abstract
This report outlines a test and evaluation program to determine suitable ground anchors necessary to support the field deployment of the CEFAR YONDER 200,000 cubic foot Family 2 Balloon. Existing commercially available screw type ground anchors will be tested and evaluated, and, if necessary, special ground anchors will be developed. Equipment needed to emplace and test ground anchors will also be evaluated and recommendations developed for field equipment. Tests will be accomplished at CKAFS and off-site locations as required to cover the full range of possible soil classes to be encountered in the field. The end product of this program will be recommendations for a family of suitable anchors and ancillary equipment to support the field deployment of the CEFAR YONDER balloon.
