QT-33A Escape Performance Capabilities and Evaluation of Aircrew Change 260.
Abstract
On 19 January 1973 an ejection tower test program involving 15 live tests and 9 dummy tests was completed on the two wedge configurations tested. One pad was constructed by NAVAIRDEVCEN and was made of three layers of 1 inch thick ensolite (type AL6) tapered from the top and contoured for good spinal alignment. The second pad was a modified version of the NAVAIRDEVCEN pad which was supplied by Point Mugu. The top layer of ensolite was removed and replaced with a softer more compressible material (MILR-5001A type 2 soft, grade A). The test program was conducted from 6 to 12 G's, increasing the acceleration in 2 G increments and using three subjects.
