On the Investigation of Cascade and Turbomachinery Rotor Wake Characteristics.

Abstract

The objective of the investigation reported in this thesis is to study the mean and turbulence characteristics of a turbomachinery rotor wake, both analytically and experimentally. The turbulence closure problem for the rotor wake in generalized tensors and non-inertial frame of reference is developed. Simplified solutions are obtained for the prediction of mean properties of the cascade and the rotor wake respectively as a function of the downstream distance from the trailing edge, pressure gradient and other parameters of the cascade and rotor geometry.
