Studies of Infrared Chemiluminescence and Photoelectron Spectroscopy.

Abstract

Progress regarding infrared chemiluminescence studies of simple atom-molecule reactions yielding hydrogen fluoride in vibrationally excited states is reviewed. Details of extension of the methods to include measurements of initial rotational energy level distributions are given. Particular reactions considered are those of atomic fluorine with hydrogen, hydrogen chloride and methane. An account is also given of the progress towards studying these reactions under conditions where the reactant is energetically excited. The progress of vacuum ultra violet photoelectron spectroscopy studies of transient species is also given. Studies include determination of ionic states of SO, CS, CH3, OH, O2 and CF2.
